Biography

I try to keep a short bio up-to-date so that when one is needed for a presentation or author byline I have one handy.

Tillman Hodgson: Tillman is an outstanding security-focused consultant (IDS, incident management, and ISO 17799/27001 specialist) with extensive network and Unix experience. Tillman has worked in the IT sector since 1993, with a level of experience equal to a "SAGE level IV/Senior". Among other interesting projects, he has acted as the technical lead for a rapidly expanding provincial ISP during the dot-com years, supported a provincial enterprise network for a utility company, performed as the project lead for a major IDS (intrusion detection) deployment, recruited and lead several security teams, and performed as the Manager of Security Services for a provincial government. He has, among other things, ISS, ITBMC, LPI, and GIAC GCIA certifications.

Tillman has a keen interest in industry involvement and belongs to a number of professional organizations, including USENIX and SAGE, is a charter member of LOPSA, and served as the Vice-President ofLOSURS from 1999 until 2002 and the President of ROSPA from 2001 until 2004. He is a co-founder of SaskCIRT. He is the author of the Kerberos5 chapter of the FreeBSD Handbook and co-author of the Gimp for Linux Bible, which was published in 1999.
