PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
I try to keep a short bio up-to-date so that when one is needed for a presentation or author byline I have one handy.
Biography
Tillman Hodgson: Tillman is an outstanding security-focused consultant
(IDS, incident management, and ISO 17799 specialist) with extensive network and
Unix experience.
Tillman has worked in the IT sector since
1993, with a level of experience equal to a ``SAGE level
IV/Senior''. Among other interesting projects, he has acted as the
technical lead for a provincial ISP during the dot-com years, supported a
provincial enterprise network and performed as the project lead for a major IDS
(intrusion detection) deployment, and performed as the Acting Manager of
Security Architecture for a provincial government. He has, among other things,
ISS, ITBMC, LPI, and GIAC GCIA certifications.
Tillman has a keen interest in community development and belongs to a number of professional organizations, including USENIX and SAGE, is a charter member of LOPSA, and served as the Vice-President of LOSURS from 1999 until 2002 and the President of ROSPA from 2001 until 2004. He is a co-founder of SaskCIRT. He is the author of the Kerberos5 chapter of the FreeBSD Handbook and co-author of the Gimp for Linux Bible, which was published in 1999.

- USENIX and SAGE (the USENIX System Administrators Guild)
- I founded and served as the President of ROSPA from 2001 until 2004 (see history for details)
- I co-founded SaskCIRT in 2003
- I served as the Vice-President of LOSURS, Regina's local Linux Users Group, from 1999 until early 2002 (and have maintained my membership since I first joined on Jan 31 1999)
- I'm a member of NYC*BUG, one of the most active BSD user groups in the world
